In 2018 we worked with LIPA Primary School offering a series of creative writing classes for the children in the year 1 group around their curriculum map ‘Into the Woods’. The children retold the story of Little Red Riding Hood in their own words and made a pictorial narrative ‘model village’ of the story using recycled objects to make the figures of red riding hood and the wolf and other characters, whilst using planting skills to grow the woods.
Some feedback from the headteacher:
‘The production of the story book given to each class was magical and inspired the children to the thought of them being authors in the real world’. ‘Bernadette instilled the concept of reusing plastics and such like in a fun way without a direct teaching session being necessary’. - Greg Parker, LIPA Primary School
We can devise various green-creative writing workshops to fit around a curriculum map across all key stages, please get in touch if you would like any more information.
